Frequently Asked
Questions about the checklists
- Are the checklists really free?
- Yes. Every checklist is free and readable in full on the page, with no payment and no sign-up wall. You can read online, print with your browser's print button, or hand a copy to your accountant. They are useful on their own whether or not you ever engage us.
- Who writes the checklists?
- The partners of the firm, with CPA review. Each checklist is written by the people who handle the same work in client engagements and is reviewed under our editorial policy, quarterly and after material regulatory changes, so the steps and deadlines reflect the rules currently in force.
- Can I use them without hiring you?
- Absolutely, that is the point. The checklists are designed to be worked through on your own or with your current accountant. If you get partway through and want help, a partner can pick up wherever the checklist left off, but there is no obligation attached to using them.
- What topics do the checklists cover?
- The current library covers the S-corp election, year-end tax planning, and the BOI reporting exemption, the decisions and deadlines owners most often ask us to sanity-check. New checklists are added over time; if there is a topic you want covered, tell us through the contact page.
Free checklists
We add checklists as owners keep asking the same question.
Tell us where to send them. You will also get a note when a checklist here changes because a threshold or a deadline moved, which happens more often than anyone would like.
