Comparison
Rubric Financial vs. Intuit QuickBooks Live
QuickBooks Live is Intuit's bookkeeping service layered inside QuickBooks Online. It pairs a Live expert with the QBO software you already pay for, mostly handling categorization, monthly reviews, and book cleanup. Tax filing and CFO work are not part of the service.
Rubric Financial is a partner-led accounting firm: bookkeeping plus accounting, payroll, business and personal tax (CPA-signed), FP&A, fractional CFO, and business valuation under one fixed monthly fee. We work in QuickBooks if that's your stack, alongside the broader engagement.

Who each is best for
Choose Intuit QuickBooks Live if
- You're a very small business that just needs categorization help inside QuickBooks Online
- You're price-sensitive and don't need tax, payroll, or CFO services bundled
- You're comfortable with a Live expert who rotates and isn't a partner
- You don't need accrual accounting or CPA-reviewed tax filings
Choose Rubric Financial if
- You want one firm handling bookkeeping AND tax AND payroll AND CFO, not separate vendors
- You need a CPA-reviewed and signed business and personal tax return
- You're growing past the point where book cleanup alone is enough
- You want a partner who knows your business, not a rotating expert
- You need fractional CFO support, FP&A modeling, or a business valuation
- You operate in a complex situation (multi-state nexus, K-1s, equity comp, real estate, restaurants)
